I keep seeing complaints about the ambient light rejecting screens. So the first thing you need to understand is that these are NOT negative gain screens!!!! They are positive gain screens! What that means is it essentially increases the amount of light that goes back to the viewer by reducing the viewing angle.This is how they manage the ambient light with this screen. Any light hitting the screen from outside the 90 degree viewing angle is going to be attenuated. Anything light coming from within the 90 degree viewing angle is going to be amplified!!!!In the photos I show that is actually my old screen. You can see that it’s quite viewable from the side… so any light in the living room at all washes out the screen!Now in the photos you’ll notice that I have French doors next to the couch! Those will need to always be completely blacked out once I have the new screen up!Because any light coming from that angle is going to be worse than if I just had a normal screen!IF you are looking a screen that can handle lots of ambient light from any direction then you need to find a NEGATIVE GAIN screen. Those are typically going to be the black screens! You’ll need a projector with a lot of extra lumens left over.So basically these screens are NOT magical in any way shape or form!You have to UNDERSTAND how they work so that you can take advantage of them!If you have light coming from behind you and you can’t block that light out then this isn’t the screen for you because it will look worse than a normal screen!

Came fast! Amazing picture even with a budget projector.

Like --Dislike -- I was sent a returned unit that had stripped hardware, missing pieces, missing instructions, and had damage throughout.- I found instructions online and managed to assemble it. It wasn’t easy.- it was missing hardware to mount it to the wall.- at this price, you should not be getting an item that is damaged, used, and missing pieces/instructions.Overall, I’d say skip this one and try a different seller or brand.

I was upgrading from a plasma TV to Projector. Because I have a large window. I went with the ALR screen so it doesn’t have to be completely dark in my room.Setup was easy but recommend to have a second person to help with stretching the screen and hanging.My picture is beautiful and my kids love the fact that we have a “movie theater” and game room! I did pair this with a quality projector due to the size of my room.

Once recovered from the USPS shipping fiasco (shipping box opened and damaged), the screen came complete with all parts. It was a cinch to assemble, much nicer in quality and effort than my outgoing white screen (see picture, both 120-inch screens). The mounting drywall anchors could have been of slightly better quality but you can upgrade those at Lowe's. The screen tensioning springs fit into metal grommet holes in the screen material for an easy tensioning of the screen, much better than my old FAVI screen. The kit even came with white gloves to handle the screen! I have total light control in my home theater but due to the ceiling and right wall being within inches of the screen, the images were reflecting from the white Matte screen back onto those adjacent walls and then reflecting back to the screen, lowering the contrast. This Cinegrey3D material is fantastic- my room reflections are near zero, and the contrast is up (was already good with my Epson 5030UB projector). The blacks are now so black that I cannot see the shadow of my hand in letterboxing. This is a fantastic deal- $500 for a 120" screen that improved an already good image to fantastic. I can also leave some room ceiling lights on and still see a great image. Don't hesitate

The ALR is hard to describe. It's definitely something you have to see in person because pictures don't do it justice. It has this really attractive sheen to it the way it reflects the light back at the viewer. It DEFINITELY fights back the ambient light while still maintaining contrast. Especially if light is hitting it above or on the sides, that's when the ALR REALLY WORKS! Keep in mind that any light coming straight at the screen or in the same direction as the projector will reflect that light back to the viewer and will wash the image out. Also keep in mind that it has a 90 degree viewing angle. So as long as you are in that viewing angle then you will have the full effect. As you move off of the angle then that's when the picture dims but it's still more than enough gain to enjoy movies. Hotspotting was something i didn't see and i'm using a 3400 lumen projector on eco mode but if that happens to some of you then try adjusting the brightness of the projector or move it further away but like i said i didn't encounter that effect. I would recommend buying the ALR Sample sheets first, they sell them here on AMAZON. Get the pack that has the CINEGREY 3D, CINEGREY 5D AND CINEGREY. Remember the longer the projector throw the better the image will be for THIS specific ALR screen. See pictures. Pic A is a white matte screen. Pic B is ALR. This is exactly what it does. Pic B is the one with darker contrast of course.

I’ve had the Sable 120” Cinegrey 3D screen for months and installed a Sable B series with a standard white material for a friend/client. At first I wasn’t impressed by the ambient light rejecting properties of the the Cinegrey material, but after installing the screen with non-ALR material I immediately saw and appreciated the difference. His projector is 3000 lumens, and mine is 2200, his on high brightness looks about the same as mine on eco. Also the frame is better built than the B series frame.

The screen is easy to assemble but it does take about an hour. I am very happy with the quality of the Cinegray material. It definitely helps contrast in rooms with ambient light. I don't believe there is a better screen out there for the money. What I don't like it the texture of the material. In bright scenes I can see the texture from 15 feet away, but it's not horribly noticable unless you are looking for it. It does tend to hotspot a little, which is to be expected from an inexpensive ALR. It's not noticable during actual viewing, only on menus. Overall it's a good value and a nice screen for those without a totally dark room.

Fantastic screen for the money! Exceeded expectations, no wrinkles what so ever. Rejects ambient light and have it installed in living room with large windows. Easy to assemble and install.

Arrived on time as expected. Great quality picture. Good stretch with no buckles or wrinkles. We hired a technician to install and he had no complaints. This is a very attractive looking screen.

If you're in the market for a screen, don't spend 3 months testing screen samples from a bunch of different manufacturers like I did...you'll drive yourself crazy. Just go buy a screen from elite screens. They are a bargain compared to the "professional" screens from Screen Innovations, DaLite and the bunch, and every darn bit as good. Why you would drop thousands on some of those screens when you could have an EliteScreens product is beyond me unless you just love blowing money. This screen is amazing, the build is second to none, the ALR properties are incredible. It's honestly pretty darn close to having a 120" led tv in a lit room. I tested Silver Ticket screen sample materials as well before deciding on ES. ES wins hands down when you see them side by side. That goes for all designs, Matte White, CineWhite, CineGrey, High Contrast, ALR, you name it. Setting it up is a pain, like all of them, but you only have to do it once. I would be equally happy with the CineWhite in a dedicated dark room, but we built our basement as an entertaining space with a lot of light/windows and wanted the ALR features of the CineGrey 3D for that reason. Worth the extra in my opinion. Cheers! P.S. Our light cannon is a Epson 3700 with 3000 lumens and it rocks. Get a bright projector if you have anything but a dedicated dark room, you won't regret it.

We ordered this screen after thoroughly reading the listing. When it arrived, there were PAGES AND PAGES of disclaimers/warnings about how the screen could get damaged (OK, that's fair) or how it would produce an inferior picture if the projector and viewers were not in a very specific alignment. Because we were not planning on mounting the screen in the exact ceiling configuration required (and our eyes were also not at the proper height for optimal viewing), we returned the screen and ordered a different one. Very happy with the other screen. PLEASE READ THE FINE PRINT BEFORE ORDERING!

I have this screen paired with a Sony 295es projector, and it is wonderful. We have a small amount of ambient light early in the evening from an egress window, and honestly we wouldn't know it due to this screen plus the projector. Assembly is easy but does take a couple hours, and then install on the wall is super easy with just a couple mounts..

good qualtiy, great value at the price. the guys that hooked it up said it was odd that the framed needed to be assembled. Also there are 2 small visible mounting brackets under the frame you can see them....it does not bother but but an fyi

Purchased this after an unsuccessful trial of a Silver Ticket silver-color screen, which had visible defects when brightly lit.Assembly wasn't awful...Elite Screens has done away with the fiddly grommets that need to be installed. They now use metal rods (akin to the style used by Silver Ticket), but still uses the mini springs that each must be individually installed. The switch away from the plastic grommets was a welcome surprise and the assembly was much faster. One thing to consider with this setup is that the rods can cause some screen "bunching" during assembly, so you'll want to ensure that the rods are inserted properly/smoothly.I have a 120" set up in my loft mandate, running an Epson Home Cinema 4000. There are a lot of windows in my house, and while I do have blinds and light-blocking curtains, my viewing space is not fully light-controlled, hence my interest in a gray screen. While the Silver Ticket screen I tried was a 1.5 gain, and this Cinegray 3D is 1.2 gain, this Cinegray screen seems to be as bright, if not brighter than the Silver Ticket. My Epson is a 2200 lumen projector, so with its lower power I was concerned that I might have issues lowering the gain, but thus far that hasn't been an issue.Thus far, I'm very impressed. After calibrating my projector for brightness and contrast, the image quality is excellent. Colors are rich, and the blacks are quite dark for a non-light-controlled space The screen does seem to reject peripheral light from above reasonably well, but not particularly well from the sides, but will need more testing.I sit approximately 10 feet from the screen (which is too close until I finish some remodeling) so there is some vignetting/hotspotting that should improve by moving back a few feet.So far, so good. No screen defects that I can detect yet. Will update review if any issues arise.

I bought a similar but discontinued product almost 9 years ago. It was the “Elite Screens 120 Inch 16:9 SableFrame High Gain Fixed Screen”. Unfortunately, it is now showing some scratches or dark areas, and I can’t remove them with cleaning them. I contacted Elite Screens if I can just buy the screen material but they no longer support it.I bought this new screen mod thinking that the ALR material is much better with contrast and rejecting ambient light — It’s not.The new frame compared to the older model while lighter, it’s not as stiff and I noticed the middle of the frame is 2/8-inch longer than the edges, after the center rod is installed.I think I’m going to return this and get a different model or product instead.

First of all, I have to tell you that I was dumb enough to install the screen and throw away all the packaging. DON'T BE LIKE ME! BE SMART! If I did not throw the packaging away, I would have totally returned this screen.I bought an Epson 5050ub and decided to pair it with the ambient light rejecting cinegrey 3d. Most of the reviews were good, however this screen turned out to be anything than ideal for my setup. I am projecting from about 15 feet away and the picture that I was getting directly on the wall was stunning comparing to the one that I was getting on the gray screen. No matter what I tried with the settings and the level of brightness, I kept getting a terrible hotspot that made the vieweing experience absolutely terrible. SInce I was dumb enough to throw away all the packaging, the best that I could think of was to flip the screen and have the back side (which is white) to be the side I project on. I am not kidding. The image on the white back side is 100 times better than what I was getting with the gray screen. There is no hot spotting, the brightness and colors are great. So, the moral of the story is to keep your packaging around in case you want to return this damn screen back to Amazon. Otherwise you will be projecting on the back side of a $500 screen. Other than that, the screen looks great and is very sturdy.
