[Elite Screens] Starling Tab-Tension 2 CineGrey 5D | ALR/CLR Electric Motorized Projector Screen, 92/106/120/135/150" in 16:9 Format, Wrinkle Free

Very disappointed with the quality fo this expensive product and the offered solutions by Elite Screens. I was super excited for this screen because I needed the extra drop but when I first rolled it down there were clear creases/horizontal lines across the screen. At first, they told me they would disappear if left down for a week but they never got better. Their solution? "all of them have this defect so if you can't live with it, send it back". I have a hard time believing anyone would tolerate these defects and that it's inherent in all of them but clearly they don't want to resolve and keep my business... A ton of time and money now waisted having this mounted only to have to get something else :(UPDATE: Updating their customer service to 4 stars for agreeing to give a full refund for the issue. Ordering a tab tension to hopefully resolve any screen issues.

I have to say a lot of this rating is really based on the service of this company. I really felt informed and support throughout the process of my purchase.. THESE GUYS WERE EXTREMELY HELPFUL. Now on to my thoughts on the screen. A lot of people who have screens will say its awesome because it is replacing a bare wall or sheet nailed taught. To be objective without being overly technical, this screen is nice and works well for most applications but may not suit high end users. This is by no means the best screen you can get or even the best screen this company offers.The black border is printed on the vinyl material and is mostly dense and acceptable at killing projector overshoot, but it looks like over time it is something that will eventually wear off, especially around the tabs, my screen is already showing this.Also the tensioning is accomplished by using what looks to be a nylon string. It does provide tension to keep the screen taught but don't expect it to be perfect or as tensioned as I am sure their higher-end models are. I thought tensioning would have been accomplished using a higher grade material, but like I said it works, thought I am concerned about long-term durability.In regards to installation, I couldn't ask for an easier setup. The floating brackets make left and right screen adjustment breeze.The motor / movement of the screen is smooth. It is not quick, but understandably so. You are rolling out a screen that is about 7ft tall by 12ft long. It takes about 40 seconds or so, but I have never been in a rush to watch anything so this does not bother me at all. Motor sounds smooth going down, its not quiet but its not loud either. If you are bothered by a smooth motor hum, you may want to do another route!! I will say when the screen goes up, it is not nearly as quiet or consistent in the hum it makes, as my screen makes a weird "warbling" noise that fades in and out as the screen is rolled up. Seems to be coming from the center of the housing. I have no way of knowing if this is normal, but hopefully I can get someone at ES to help me see if that is part of normal operation.So lets sum this up, you are getting a big screen at a good value, its not perfect but I would absolutely buy it again, and support this company. Its probably not for the most high end users but is fine for most pro-sumers I'd say. Shipping was fast, it was packed extremely well, but understand the box is going to be massive. If you are wanting to get a screen that make folks say wow, go for it. Even with my observations I'd still recommend it. My family and friends enjoy this screen tremendously so that really is all that matters. I attached a photo to help give you a sense of what it looks like, the image on screen may seem washed out as a had a lot of lights on in the room. Finally set up this behemoth 135" screen a year after purchasing and I love it. It's pretty quiet but the sound is still noticeable. The screen drops pretty quick but still takes time.. however the quality is great and the screen is dead flat. No ripples. 5 star!

This is a great screen. It came with all accessories. 12V trigger is working.

I bought this one because it was the only 100" Elite model that was electric and came with a white case. I comes with both an RF and IR remote. Was super easy to hang on the wall. Using it with a BenQ W1070. 3D movies are amazing. It does have a few minor waves to it, but they aren't very noticeable, and Elite tech support (they've been very helpful) suggested that I leave it down overnight (I've read that this worked for others so I expect it will for me).The case itself is round and smooth, which is nicer than most of the cases, which have straight edges.

Screen performs very well. ALR Properties work but expecting it to work in a bright room is asking too much. I would state it works in low ambient light and looks fantastic in a dark room (not a "bat cave").All in all, I received a great deal during a sale. The packaging, the materials and construction is very good and the customer support is excellent.

Installation is not ideal but the product is quite good.

Works good but unfortunately there is a crease which will not go away. But when watching a movie you hardly notice it.

Excellent screen for the money. Not as great as my Stewart Filmscreen but a lot better value. Noise of the motor is minimal and the lowering of the screen isn't the fastest but not too slow either. The screen is built of sturdy and good quality materials. There were and still are some warps and bulges at the very bottom of the screen but none that impact the image. Adjusting the drop was very easy. Just had to get the right sized wrench to adjust which took a few minutes. All-in-all happy with my purchase.

Good, but not perfect. The screen came packed in well armored transport cardboard box. The screen comes with both IR and RF remotes. Screen motor works well but is not silent, but then who cares for the few seconds it takes to raise and lower the screen.The reason though for 4 and not 5 stars is that the screen has a slight ripple in it which is noticeable and potentially annoying. This appears to be because the bottom rod is not perfectly tensioned when the screen was manufactured. I would recommend on a screen this wide it is worth the extra money to get a side tensioned version of the screen.

This rear projection screen allows for clear crisp images and type during powerpoint or keynote presentations. It also presents videos very well.

Only to be installed by professionals. Very heavy but if you have contractors to install it, it looks amazing

This review is for Elite Starling2 16:9 120 inch diagonal screen, white color finish. The screen material is very good, came with excellent packaging.Amazon delivered few days earlier than the original promised date which is good. White color blends with my interiors, good I didn't select black color. Setting up and installing it flush-mount to the ceiling was a big challenge due to its weight. The user manual mentioned it can also be installed to the dry-wall ceiling but this didn't work due to its enormous weight. So I had to first install a 2X6 wooden frame to the ceiling on to the ceiling studs and then install the screen to the wooden-frame. I used a white duct-tape to cover the wooden frame which gave an excellent finish better than painting it. I had to make several visits to HomeDepot. I wish this screen had sliding brackets like in Saker series which could be installed directly to the ceiling studs making the install/mount much easier.It's been around a month since I purchased this screen. The screen so far has been nice and of good quality. The tubular motor is very fast compared to synchronous motor. It comes with both RF and IR remotes which look much nice/modern compared to the remotes offered with other Elite screen models including Saker series. The extra 14 inches screen drop was useful to me to bring the screen view to eye level. The black bar at the bottom of the screen completely covered/hidden when retracted.I could setup/adjust the drop height to stop exactly above my center channel speaker. I also setup the 5-12V trigger to my Panasonic projector so that the screen drops down automatically when I switch ON the projector and retracts back when the projector is switched OFF.Given that this is fiber-glass backed, I expected this to be fully flat but there are some waves in the middle of the screen which are visible during wide panning. Overall I'm satisfied with the product and recommend it.

It's quiet, easy to install and when I had a question about adjusting the height the manufacturer was available to answer my question by phone. Overall I'm really happy with my purchase and would recommend to anyone.

Good screen. Not amazing, but good. Pros - easy to install with two people. Good price. ALR does what it claims Cons - Very poor off axis brightness. I know its an ALR screen but there is so much hot spotting and sparkle. With a plain white picture you can see banding and a bright middle spot right at the center while an equivalent screen from others are more distributed. If I had to do it again, I would not get cinegray 5d. This is good for me because I needed a motorized screen and ALR but if you dont REALLY need it, go with a light grey or similar screen that is flat. The edges of the screen are also warped which is by design according to them so its not a fully exact rectangular picture. Pretty annoying.

This product is absolutely excellent from build quality, looks and use. I am very pleased and feel it was worth the price paid!
